Ava Campana (b.2000) is an artist working and living in Brooklyn, NY. Originally born in West Palm Beach, FL she moved to New York in 2018 to study at the School of Visual Arts, graduating with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2023.

“These works are a hyper-performative embodiment of my own complicated love for American culture. I like to consider these portraits fully fledged identities born from different inspirational points in my life. These things interest me because somehow, whether it be through my preteen years synonymous with iPhones or Silly Bandz or the 2008 market crash, my generation is silently connected by non-unique shared experiences that have been forming and shaping our identities, then forced down our throats by capitalist hands because we are Americans.

There is a separation between myself and these characters, allowing me to bend the line between deception and believability. This work allows me to exaggerate the conundrums of American culture and emphasize its hi-fructose corn syrup, sugar coated, red dye number 40 absurdity.”
